School picture hair!

Beautiful twist out for her kindergarten pics!

"Elsa" braid

We started on freshly washed hair, then blow dried using "reniece" on YouTube method (took an hour!). Ran the straightener thru for less than a min total just to smooth it all, and gave her an "Elsa" braid ☺

Another 18 month growth comparison!

Tried to find a similar style to compare. The only difference is one is twists and one is braids and how the back looks.

Product review: shea moisture curl enhancing smoothie

Soooo, I really hate shea moisture products, but I decided to give another one of there products a try. I found this sample size at walgreens for about $4. I loved the smell so I was pretty excited to go home and wash my daughter's hair and style with this new product. First of all, I had to use alot! It did not go thru her hair well at all. There was zero slip and it was too thick for there not to be. The white went away once dry and her hair stayed pretty nice once styled. When I took her hair down a few days later it was still pretty moisturized on the areas where her hair is super thin and silky, but very dried out on the rest of her hair....i decided to try it on my son since his curs are loose and more silky. It works well for him, so I'm going to use it up atleast, but I don't see myself buying this again.

Criss cross pigtails

I did criss cross twists down her head and combined them into one braided pigtail on each side. Pretty quick and simple style for the week!

Momma got a break!

My best friend is about to finish cosmetology school the end of summer and wanted to get more practice braiding curly/textured hair. Took 5 hours but she did good! ☺

Baby boy's hair continued

I previously posted a picture of my son's hair dry. Here is a pic of it fresh out the bath with the miss jessies leave in conditioner and organix/OGX coconut milk serum.

Baby boy's hair

I figured since I've been talking a bit more about my son's hair and products I use on him, that I should post a picture of his hair for you to better compare how products may work on your hair too. I've previously posted a picture of my daughter's hair, so you can also now see the difference between both their hair types.

Argan oil review

I read many reviews of this product and how much people loved it, but I wasn't totally sold. I kept thinking it was going to be a very thin runny oil, such as coconut oil or tea tree oil. I ended up finding a small sample size at sally's beauty supply for about $3 so decided to give it a try. I FELL IN LOVE IMMEDIATELY! It was so silky and ran thru her hair so nicely. Surprisingly it was also decently thick! Most thick oils tend to be sticky in her hair and most thin oils tend to not moisturize her hair enough. But this Argon oil was the perfect mix of thick, moisturizing and slippery. Absolutely love this stuff! Not sure how much this big bottle cost since my mom bought it for us, but I don't even care, it lasts a while and works amazing! The smell is kind of manly in my opinion, not sure how to describe it, but it's not bad at all. I think this product would work well with any hair type, just have to use different amounts for texture and thickness of hair.

Baby boy's hair products

My son's hair is opposite of my daughters. His hair is very soft, silky and he also has looser curls. I bought some products to try on my daughter, which they worked fine, but when used on my son it worked great! Miss jessies leave in conditioner, if I remember correctly, ran somewhere between $15-$20 and the OGX coconut milk serum ran about $10-$15...Miss jessies alone left his hair somewhat crunchy, but his curls super defined. When I added the coconut milk serum to the leave in it created magic lol...his hair stayed so soft, no crunch, smelled amazing (more of a fresh scent than cake or floral), his hair didn't look greasy but it had a soft healthy shine. I'm not totally set on buying either product again since the price was pretty high and his hair stays well managed with either nothing or Garnier fructis leave in conditioner (for about $3), but as he gets older and if I keep growing his hair out I'll probally come back to these products again!

Mixed chicks review

So I've tried mixed chicks leave in conditioner on my daughter's hair when she was about 2 years old and absolutely hated it...her hair has changed alot since then and products I originally loved weren't working quite the same. I remembered one thing about the product that I actually loved was the slip, so I decided to give it another try. I bought a sample size to start and also bought their mixed silk...the 2 together is amazing in her hair! My fingers glide thru beautifully and her hair stays pretty well moisturized till taken out her styles. As shown in this picture, her hair was in twists for about 4 days and still super soft and shiny! The product is more costly than I'd like, about $15 for the hair silk and about  $20 for the leave in. But it works well with her hair now so I can't complain too much....the leave in alone smells not the greatest, but the hair silk has a better scent and actually smells pretty good when together (not sure how to explain the scent tho). If you like or need product with slip, I'd definitely give mixed chicks a try! Our other favorite products became too thick and sticky for her hair these days, so this is perfect for now ☺

"Hot head" deep condition cap

I bought a hot head deep condition cap about a month ago and finally put it to use! Easiest thing in the world to use! I started with detangled and sectioned hair...heated the cap for 2 mins, flipping half way thru...then placed on her head for about 40 mins...I love using heat on her hair since it allows moisture in much easier. I hope to continue a steady regimen with more deep conditioning! If I remember correctly, the cap was about $25

Twists!

Deep conditioned earlier and decided to go with a head full of twists!

Something different

Wasn't sure what to do with the back and also my son woke up from his nap so I had to hurry up...the first couple days the back was just a braided pony, then I decided to do something a little more protected and did 2 french braids. She loves it tho!

Old style into new style

I took out all the braids from her last style except the ones in front...then braided those few into 3 bigger braids and made single braids with her freshly washed and detangled hair. I wrapped all the braids into a bun and secured it with a hair binder. Simple and pretty 😊

Product review: Miss jessie's baby buttercream

I have read mixed reviews on miss jessie's products but mostly good ones on the baby buttercream, so I decided to give it a try.

Pro's:
- thick cream
- hold in moisture well

Con's:
- price ($32!)
- strong medicated scent
- zero slip (which the jar does says it helps with detangling)
- doesn't smooth thru hair well

With that, I do plan on using up what is left since it was so expensive. But I have only been using it towards the ends of her braids. I like a product that helps my fingers glide thru while braiding her hair, and this one seems to cause her hair to stick together....I did try it on my son who is a year and a half and (from my best judgement) has 3b type hair. It worked well on him but since the scent is so overpowering I will not continue to use on him.

cd 4 kids conditioner

My product junkie self caved and bought yet another pricey conditioner for my daughter. If I remember correctly it was about $12. They also have a shampoo and spray detangler for kids too, but I didn't buy those...The scent of this conditioner is really light with kind of a lemon, lime, grass smell (the best way to explain it). It had good slip, I didn't need too much to do the job. I didn't really like that it seemed to foam once I started working it in, but that's the least of my worries. I'd give this product an 8 only because of the price and that foamy issue. I may or may not buy this product again, but I'd definitely recommend it!

Half mohawk

Her style after almost a week. It's holding up pretty well so far!
