Throw back Thursday!

Baby girl when she was 9 months old! I miss her mohawk days lol oh how time flies!

Kinky Curly Curling Custard

Just thought I would add on to my previous ”free hair” post...Here are the steps I took to use kinky curly curling custard on baby girl's hair...

1. Washed hair at night
2. Applied light moisture, twisted hair, then put on her silk cap
3. Next morning took out one section to work with at a time
4. Sprayed the section with a water and oil mix to fully soak hair
5. Grabbed a small, but good amount of kccc and finger raked thru hair
6. Continued process thru her whole head, took approx. 30 mins :)

Braids and ”gorilla snot”

Not sure where I was expecting this style to go lol kinda played it by ear....but my main goal was experimenting with ”gorilla snot” hair gel. I must say it worked out great, but I am going to try a lighter hold once this bottle is gone. I found the yellow bottle (strongest hold) to be too sticky for my liking, although the stickiness wasn't as bad when her hair was more wet....I've seen many people rave about this product lately so I had to see for myself. In the end I do think I will continue to use this, just probably a lighter hold. For approximately $2, not bad!

How we detangle

We do our main detangling during bath time. I wet all of baby girl's hair, then grab a section of hair and clip the rest out of the way. I apply a good amount of conditioner to the section I am working with and continue to finger detangle (sometimes I'll grab smaller sections in the section and detangle a little at a time. I find the less hair you have the easier it is to get the tangles out). I then use a wide tooth comb and comb the section in different directions/angles to ensure all tangles r gone. After using a wide tooth comb I use a modified denman brush (every other row of ”teeth” taken out) and brush her hair the same way I did with the comb. Once fully detangled I either twist or braid the section of hair. I let the conditioner sit in her hair till her whole head is finished, then I rinse it all out at once, while twists or braids are still in....For dry detangling I use this same method, minus the brush, and with a detangling spray instead of conditioner.

How we achieved ”free hair”!

I used to always have baby girls hair out not giving a care what happened to it. But once she hit just over 2 years old her hair changed and protective styles were a must for us! I decided to finally give free hair another chance a few months ago and it lasted an hour before I put it in a pony tail. I caved this past week and spend the $17 on kinky curly curling custard...BEST purchase I have bought yet! It defined her curls beautifully and weighed them down as well. Frizz free curls all day! Once her hair fully dried and we went home that night she had serious carseat hair in the back where her curls are very tiny and dry. That problem was easily fixed the next day with a spritz of water and re-fluffing. This is a must have product for our ”free hair” days!
